My boyfriend and I have been talking about marriage and recently he bought me an engagement ring...the only thing holding him back from proposing to me is asking for my father's permission (which I know he'll give my boyfriend anyways but it is still proper to do so). Do you have ANY suggestions as to what he should say to my father? Both my father and I tell him to say what's in his heart but he doesn't want to hear that. If you could help me out at all, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!!

If he can't say what is in his heart at this time, then don't push him. When the time is right he will ask your father for your hand in marriage. In the meantime, be happy and patient. Plan activities that include your father that they would enjoy together. Give them the chance to get to know each other better, then he will feel more comfortable about asking.
