Dear Angel:

I was involved with a married man back in 1996. At the time we were both separated from our spouses. I got my divorce that year, but he went back to his wife, because he didn't want to pay child support, so he says. We work together and I have to see him on a daily basis. I have ignored him, been mean to him, refuse to speak to him, but he doesn't want to let it end. To this day he still wants a relationship, but he's still at home with his wife. Why is it hard for him to let go of me?

A.

He had the proverbial cake and lost part of it when you left him. Now he wants it back. Staying with his wife so that he doesn't have to pay child support is one of the lamest lines I've ever heard.

Tell him to bug off. He made his decision and so did you. You are better off without him.

Corner him in the coffee room and tell him exactly that and that you would like to remain cordial to him for business reasons, but that's all. If that doesn't work, check out the want ads for a different job.
