There is a distant call from deep inside.
A message that is more of a faint echo
And arrives with a gentle touch.

As the message is delivered
To my alert consciousness,
its sound is barely heard.

The message is simple
and really more a request.
Please come, it is time to rest.

I do not wish to rest,
not yet anyway.
Reluctantly, I close my eyes.

I begin my search for the source.
But it is deep inside
And not so easy to find.

Traveling to the far reaches of my mind,
I find the peaceful source,
And I sleep.
